4 of Our Favourite Spring Flavours!

The sun has come out and spring has sprung! Spring flavours are among some of our favourites and we love this time of year. The lighter mornings and evenings, the sound of bird song, the smell of wild flowers and freshly mown grass – oh and of course the food!

Spring hails the return of one of our favourite food stuffs – wild garlic as well as a hunger (literally!) for lighter, fresher food. To this end we’re showcasing some of our favourite spring time products from a creamy, garlic cheese to zingy lemon yogurt, juicy strawberry jam and olives stuffed with sweet pickled garlic. Happy Spring everyone!

Garlic Yarg

The Wild Garlic Yarg from Lynher Dairies is a delicious spring cheese. It is made to the exact same recipe as the original Yarg with the only difference being the leaves the cheese is wrapped in. The team forage wild garlic leaves every spring which are then hand painted onto the cheese. The leaves impart a gentle, garlic flavour into the cheese and slightly firm up its texture.

Lemon Curd Yogurts

These lemon curd layered yogurts from Langage Farm are luxuriously thick and creamy made using milk from the farms own herd of Jersey and Guernsey cows. The lemon curd is beautifully rich and sweet and provides the perfect balance to the creamy yogurt.

Strawberry Jam

Spring marks the start of cream tea season and we’re keeping to the classic of strawberry jam. This one is from Waterhouse Fayre where Ann Stallard makes small batch jams and chutneys to traditional recipes. The strawberry, like all her jams, is packed full of fruity flavour perfect for dolloping onto a scone – cream first of course!

Stuffed Garlic Olives

Our sister company West Country Olives produce a range of delicious olives sourced from around the Med and mixed with local ingredients. These halkidiki olives are hand stuffed with sweet, pickled garlic and finished with minced garlic and Bell & Loxton rapeseed oil. This flavour won a Great Taste Award in 2021 and is one of our bestsellers.
