Devon and Cornwall have had long standing rivalries on everything from how to serve cream teas (obviously cream first) and how pasties should be crimped to who boasts the best beach and how many tourists visit each summer. But for the most part we get on with our neighbouring county and to celebrate this we’ve compiled our favourite products from across the Tamar.
Cornish Gouda
As featured on the first series of Rick Steins Cornwall we have been big fans of this delicious cheese since we began stocking it four years ago. The Cornish Gouda Company was established by Giel Spierings back in 2012. This family run business produce their cheeses by hand using traditional Danish techniques. Our favourite is the Medium Gouda which is mellow and slightly sweet with a smooth and creamy texture. We also stock the Mature which is much more rich and complex in flavour. Both are available in retail and bulk sizes.
Freda’s Peanut Butter
Cornish Brie
Again this is another recent addition to our range made by the Cornish Cheese Co who also make our Cornish Blue. The Cornish Cheese Co was established by Phillip and Carol Stansfield in 2001 but it wasn’t until 2021 that Cornish Brie was created. We got our first delivery just a few weeks ago but already it is proving extremely popular. This farmhouse brie is full flavoured and creamy with a smooth texture and the rich Cornish milk used in production gives the cheese its characteristic buttery yellow colour. The Cornish Brie is available in 1kg rounds as well as retail sizes.
We are lucky enough to have some of the best food producers as our neighbours and we could have mentioned many more here. Click here to view our entire range.
