We are extremely proud of the wide variety of local producers we work with. From small-scale independent businesses to larger operations, buying and supporting local is central to our ethos. Read on to discover just some of these fantastic producers and their delicious products.

You couldn’t get much more local than our Devon Suppliers!

Devon is bountiful with so many small scale producers each creating their own fantastic products. We are extremely lucky to have a wide range of artisan products on our doorstep; from cheeses to cider and small batch jams to handmade pies. Here are just some of our local producers from Devon:

Sharpham Cheese – Totnes

Producing a range of award-winning cheeses on the Sharpham Estate including Sharpham Brie, Sharpham Rustic with Chive & Garlic and the Ticklemore Goats cheese. The brie recently won Platinum at the Food Drink Devon awards!

Sandford Orchards – Crediton

These ciders are almost legendary throughout Devon. Produced using the best local ingredients their ciders are beautifully flavoured and wonderfully refreshing. We love the Devon Mist and the new for 2023 Devon Blush.

Ginger Cat Deli – Cullompton

Ginger Cat produce their range of pies, pasties, sausage rolls and quiche from scratch using quality local meat and vegetables. Look out for their new vegan Sag Aloo pie available to order now!

Bell & Loxton – Upton Barton

These cold pressed rapeseed oils are a great alternative to olive oil with much less food miles. They are made on the family farm using home grown rapeseed. The original rapeseed oil is great for roasting and frying while the garlic and basil varieties make super dressings.

Curworthy Cheese – Okehampton

Situated in a perfect area for grazing cattle Curworthy have been producing their traditional cheeses for over 30 years. This year their Haytor cheddar scooped Best in Show at the Devon County Show!

Some of our bestselling cheeses come from our neighbouring county!

There has long been a supposed rivalry between Devon and Cornwall but it terms of cheeses, producers in Cornwall are up there with some of the best in the country. Here are some of our local producers from Cornwall:

Cornish Cheese Company – Liskeard

Producers of the only blue cheese currently made in Cornwall, Cornish Blue made waves in 2010 when it became World Champion Cheese. Today they also produce a brie and a camembert. 

Cornish Gouda – Looe

Based on the family farm Cornish Gouda produce traditional Dutch gouda using techniques learnt by founder Giel Spierings in Holland. We stock their medium gouda which is mild, sweet and creamy and the mature which has more complex, buttery flavours.

Lynher Dairies – Truro

Multi award winning cheeses including the Cornish Yarg and it’s sister cheese Garlic Yarg. All made using milk from the farms own herd alongside that from local farms and using a traditional recipe.

Whalesborough Cheese – Bude

A small batch cheese producer making artisan cheeses using unique recipes perfected over the last 17 years. Our favourite is the Cornish Smuggler, a traditional farmhouse cheese with red marbling. 

Somerset is renowned for the king of cheeses – cheddar – but what about their lesser known alternatives?

Somerset is the birth place of Britain’s favourite cheese and traditional cheddar certainly has it’s place. But the county also houses a plethora of small scale cheese and dairy producers. We’ve collated just a few of our favourite local producers here for you:

White Lake Cheese  – Shepton Mallet

Traditionally producing goat’s and ewe’s milk cheeses from their own herds White Lake are a family farm currently on it’s third generation. Their cheeses have many awards to their name including the English Pecorino which won a Silver award at the 2019/2020 World Cheese Awards. We love the Solstice and Sheep Rustler. 

Brue Valley Butter – Glastonbury

This butter is utterly delicious. Made using the best quality cream from trusted local suppliers, it is churned in small batches and hand salted to ensure a bespoke product. We stock their salted and unsalted butter rolls.

Somerset Cheese Company

With over 80 years combined experience in crafting delicious cheeses, Somerset Cheese Company specialise in adapting traditional recipes to produce characterful sheep, goat and cows milk cheeses. We love their Somerset Herb & Cider cheese.

Dorset is home to delicious cakes, artisan cheeses and so much more!

Dorset is famous for its high quality and great tasting produce. Here are some of our fantastic local producers from our neighbouring county:

Dorset Blue Vinny – Sturminster Newton

This cheese has almost as much history as Cheddar and nearly went extinct before being resurrected in the 1980’s. The cheese itself is subtle and tangy with a lovely creaminess – definitely one to try!

Jessica’s Cakes – Bridport

Jessica’s produce a range of whole cakes as well as scones and traybakes from their premises in Bridport. With a focus on quality local ingredients combined with traditional recipes; they’re ethos is about creating that “home-made” taste. In particular we love the Chocolate Tiffin.

Ford Farm Cheesemakers – Dorchester

Ford Farm’s team of expert cheesemakers produce their range of award-winning traditional cheeses by hand. We stock their Westcountry Billie Goat – a mild goat’s cheese and Dorset Red – a smooth and mellow smoked cheese.
