Here in Devon we are extremely lucky to have so many fantastic local producers on our doorstep – from artisan cheeses and bespoke blended teas to quality sausages and handmade puddings. In a time when consumers are increasingly concerned with low food miles and the provenance of their food, locality and the ‘shop local’ campaign have never been more apt. With this in mind we are producing a blog series on our local producers and their delicious products, this week focusing on W. F. Chinn.Sausage manufacturer W F Chinn was established in 1950 in Crediton and is today owned by Tony and Rose Palmer who have made the business into the success that it is. Operating out of the original premises until 2007, they now work out of a purpose built factory which allowed them to expand the business while remaining in their Crediton home. All of their sausages are made using meat sourced directly from local farms with a variety of flavours and sizes available from traditional pork sausages and chipolatas, classic pork & apple and cumberland to pork & smoky chorizo, pork & sweet chilli and succulent pork & caramelised red onion. Throughout the summer their high meat content beef and pork & apple burgers have been grilling on many a bbq – including our own! The full range is available to view here: http://www.iscafoods.co.uk/local-fresh-sausages/
Their sausages are available in 230g (roughly 4 sausages) and 450g (roughly 8 sausages), while their burgers are sold in trays of 4 and a new addition of sage and onion meatballs are available in trays of 12.
We have worked with Tony and Rose at W.F. Chinn for a number of years and their delicious range of sausages continue to be popular among our customers.
