History
I Am Nut Ok was founded back in 2017 by Angela Chou and Nivi Jasa. Originally it was a passion project of Angela’s to create tasty cheese alternatives for newly vegan Nivi. Many of the vegan cheeses on the market then were packed full of chemicals and just didn’t taste very nice so Angela and Nivi set out to change that!
Firstly they vowed to create healthy and tasty cheese alternatives with real ingredients. For example the majority of their cheeses are made using cashew nuts or soya milk as the main ingredient so no hidden nasties! Since their inception they have grown from a small market stall to one of the UK’s leading vegan cheese producers.
Process
I Am Nut Ok’s vegan cheese range are developed using a mix of traditional cheesemaking techniques combined with new innovations. To this end they are produced by hand in small batches before going through the fermentation and ageing process.
Fermented cashew nuts and dairy-free cheese cultures are transformed into cheese during this culturing process which is similar to dairy cheesemaking and provides that authentic cheesy tang beloved by aficionados.
Once aged these are then blended with high quality herbs and spices and left to mature and develop those rich and complex flavours that we love. Finally the cheeses are cut and packed into I Am Nut Ok’s distinctive packaging ready for us to sell to you!
