The summer holidays are here and with it an influx of much needed visitors. Here we’re highlighting the best devon products to show off our great county this summer.
Chunk of Devon
We have been working with Chunk of Devon for a long time and it’s no secret that we love their pies and pasties. With over 175 awards under their belt including 10 consecutive Great Taste Awards for their Steak Pasty, it seems other people love them too! This summer why not stock up on this West Country staple or any of Chunks other picnic friendly products? Their Chunki Sausage Rolls make a great on the go snack and new for this year the Ruby Murray Chicken Curry certainly packs a punch of flavour with chickpea, sweet potato and cauliflower curry and a little mango chutney – it is truly delicious and suitable for vegans too! West Country Olives
Of course we had to mention our sister company here! Established in 2020 West Country Olives produce award-winning olives from our unit here in Exeter. Their delicious olives are sourced from around the Med and then combined with West Country ingredients to create delicious flavours. This year their Lemon & Tarragon, Garlic Stuffed, Rosemary & Garlic and Classic Blend varieties won Gold at the Taste of the West Awards! Langage Farm
Devon and our Cornish neighbours are synonymous with cream teas and why not make them the best they can be with some Devonshire clotted cream? Langage Farm have been producing their award-winning clotted creams on the farm near Plymouth since 1980 and today they can be found in cafes, farm shops and delis throughout the South West as well as across the country. Made using milk from their own herd of Jersey and Guernsey cows to a traditional recipe the cream is rich with a classic golden yellow colour and crust. Pair with a lovely strawberry or raspberry jam and a freshly baked scone and you’ve got a Devonshire treat!
Orchardlea Deli
These deli pots have been a labour of love for us. We first started producing them here at our unit in 2021 at first with only two varieties. Since then we have increased this to seven including Cherry Peppers stuffed with Cheese, Stuffed Vine Leaves and our personal favourite the Borettane Onions in Balsamic Vinegar. These are perfect alongside cured meats and cheese for a low effort sharing platter or even as part of a BBQ. Click here to see the full range.
Sandford Orchards
Sandford Orchards are craft cider makers working in the oldest working cider mill in the UK here in Devon. Established back in 2002 Sandford use only locally sourced fruit and 100% natural ingredients to create their award-winning ciders. The bestselling of which is this Devon Red, named for the red soil of the apple orchards the cider comes from. It is a fresh, light and refreshing apple cider perfect for BBQs, picnics and long summer evenings. Their other varieties include Devon Mist, Fanny’s Bramble, Berry Lane and Rib Tickler – made in partnership with the Rugby Players Association raising funds for charity.
