We are extremely privileged to have such incredible produce right on our doorstep and In this blog we’re highlighting just some of the delicious products made right here in Devon.

Devon is a county with wild moors, beautiful coastlines and acres of rolling pastures creating the perfect climate for producing food. From jams and chutneys to wine and vodka, artisan cheeses to traditional puddings and organic soups to smoked fish, Devon truly has something for everyone.

West Country Olives

We’re starting our Best of Devon highlights with something a little unusual for Devon – West Country Olives. These olives are sourced from around the Mediterranean but are then mixed with locally sourced ingredients to create a bespoke Devon product. This is our sister company so of course we had to give them a mention! West Country Olives was established in 2020 by our original founder Tim who has always had a passion for olives. Today the day to day running is managed by Liam, who handles online orders, Hannah who handles social media and email enquiries and Will who designs the website and packaging.

Devon Rum

We began stocking Devon Rum Co in early 2021 with the rest of our alcohol range. Like West Country Olives, Devon Rum Co was established in 2020 by Dave and Giles. This craft rum is made using distilled Caribbean rums from Jamaica and Guyana. These are then mixed with Devon spring water and infused with zest and spices. Devon Rum are passionate about being carbon negative and have completely eliminated all plastic from production as well as ensuring all packaging is 100% recyclable. Their signature Devon Premium Spiced Rum is full of delicious spices including cinnamon, cardamom and star anise resulting in a warm rum with zesty, syrup-y flavours.

Curworthy Cheese

Curworthy Cheese has been part of our cheese range for years. Their cheeses are made on Stockbeare Farm near Okehampton in mid-Devon using milk sourced from neighbouring farms. All cheeses originate from the original Curworthy recipe which is a full fat hard cheese with a light and creamy, buttery flavour. We stock the Curworthy Devon Oke which is matured for slightly longer than it’s counterpart – 6/7 months which creates a more creamy, mature flavour. We also stock the Chipple – the same cheese with spring onion, Dartmoor Chilli made with chillies from nearby Dartmoor Chilli Farm and Meldon, made with wholegrain mustard and real ale.

Rod and Ben’s

Rod and Ben’s organic soups was established by Rod as a way of using up left over vegetables from his farm. Two of the first recipes were created in this way: Carrot & Coriander and Leek & Potato. Today Rod & Ben’s create a delicious range of soups that vary with the season. Their winter range includes honey glazed root vegetable, comforting rustic chicken broth and fragrant Moroccan vegetable.

Jackson’s Fishmongers

Jackson’s Fishmongers have been supplying us their smoked fish for a number of years now. Established in 1922 the team have a vast wealth of knowledge and experience of their product resulting in a delicious taste experience. Their fish is sourced from nearby Brixham market and smoked on site in Newton Abbot. The range includes smoked mackerel, peppered mackerel, hot smoked trout and smoked boned kippers.

There are many more wonderful suppliers and producers we could have mentioned here and we are lucky enough to be inundated with their delicious products. You can view our full range by clicking here.
