Supplier Spotlight 2023 – Waterhouse Fayre

Waterhouse Fayre

We’re continuing our Supplier 2023 Spotlight!

We published our new product guide earlier this year and it got us thinking more about our fantastic products and the people producing them. Throughout this series we are highlighting some of our favourites and in the process getting to know more about the people behind the business. Today we’re focusing on Waterhouse Fayre – read on to discover more!

History

Waterhouse Fayre was founded by Ann Stallard back in January 2004. Originally the jams were produced as a way of using up surplus fruit grown for local hotels and restaurants and sold locally at the South Molton Pannier Market. Soon the jams became so successful that they could no longer sell the fruit as all of it was needed to make jam!

In 2015 the business relocated from North Devon to a more central location in mid Devon and a purpose built building perfect for jam production. In moving the business Ann and her team were also able to expand their fruit growing capacity and now produce a considerable amount of jam alongside chutneys and pickles every year.

Some of the recipes used are third or fourth generation and some have been created by Ann with a focus on traditional flavours given a modern twist. All of their products continue to be made in small batches in preserving pans resulting in that authentically traditional flavour.

Today it is a true family business with many of Ann’s nieces and nephews now roped in to help pick the fruit as well as assisting in production and being the face behind the brand at shows throughout the county.
