We’re excited to be at the Source Food & Drink Trade Show at Westpoint Exeter this February!

6 – 7th February – Westpoint Exeter

The show has been taking place for a number of years now and this will be our first year attending it since 2019!
Showcasing the very best of South West Food & Drink, this years Source Trade Show promises bigger and better than ever with a huge number of artisan producers and suppliers from around the South West in attendance. They will all be showcasing their fantastic range of products allowing visitors to discover new products and get excited for the upcoming 2024 season! Read on to discover more!

We can’t wait to see as many of our existing customers at the show as possible as well as hopefully meeting some potential new customers.

We’ll be on stand L4 alongside some of our own fantastic producers!

This year we’ve changed things up a bit and as well as bringing along our range of local meats, cheeses and deli products to exhibit at the Source Trade Show, we’re also teaming up with four of our own suppliers: Curworthy Cheese, West Country Olives, Ginger Cat Deli and Sharpham Cheese to bring you a fantastic selection of samples to try and stories to discover!

We’re passionate about championing small scale producers from the South West so inviting some of our own suppliers along to join us felt obvious.

Curworthy have joined us at the show before and our sister company West Country Olives have been for the last few years. Sharpham Cheese are also not novices to trade shows whilst this is only Ginger Cat Deli’s second year of trading. We hope you can spare some time to come along and see us and perhaps discover your new favourite products as well!

Over the next few weeks we’re going to be sharing the history and back story of each of these suppliers as well as highlighting their delicious products. First up is Curworthy Cheese!

Curworthy Cheese

Curworthy have been producing their artisan cheeses on Stockbeare Farm for the last 25 years. Throughout that time many things have changed but the small team remain committed to producing their high quality cheeses to traditional methods.

Richard Drake is currently head cheese-maker after taking over from his mother-in-law Rachel Stephens. Rachel moved to Devon in 1979 when her and her then husband bought Stockbeare Farm and set about establishing a dairy herd.

The rest as they say is history and although today the farm does not have it’s own dairy herd, the best quality local milk is sourced from surrounding farms and delivered early each morning in time for cheese-making.

All of the Curworthy cheeses are based on a 17th century recipe which is a cross between an alpine cheese and a cheddar with a mild, creamy flavour and firm texture.

We stock the following cheeses from the Curworthy range:

Devon Oke

Matured for 5 months this is a pasteurised full fat cheese with a creamy and slightly sweet flavour

Curworthy Black Wax

A cross between an alpine cheese and a Cheddar the original Curworthy is mild and creamy with a smooth texture

Curworthy Chipple

Named after the old Devon name for spring onion, this is a variation on the original Curworthy cheese which is, you guessed it, combined with spring onions and encased in green wax

Curworthy Meldon

Another variation on the Curworthy this time blended with English mustard and ale and encased in yellow wax

Dartmoor Chilli

A variation on the original Curworthy this time with the addition of chopped red chillies sourced from nearby Dartmoor Chilli Farm

All of these cheeses are available in whole rounds as well as in individual retail packs. Click here to discover more about the range or download our product guide here.

Richard from Curworthy Cheese will be alongside us at the Source Trade Show on Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th February where he’ll be offering tastings of some of these delicious cheeses!
